EV Charging Station fall into 3 categories with Level 1 being the most basic. A Level 1 EV Charging Station is one that operates using standard 120 volt AC current. These charging stations allow for more effective management of energy, are relatively inexpensive to install and typically meet the needs of most vehicles.
Most Level 1 charging stations can charge your vehicle in a matter of 5 or 6 hours and be ready with a full charge for that morning commute. Even after the work day is done these charging stations can give enough charge to run your evening errands. When the car is returned at the end of the evening it typically sits for many hours meaning a Level 1 charger, slow though it may be, is still more than adequate to recoup the range lost before the morning commute.
Level 2 charging stations are similar to Level 1 in that they still use an AC adapter but they can charge the vehicle typically in over half the time than a level 1 station. Though these are more expensive it does meet some families and businesses needs better for a faster charge.
Level 3 is a 480 vold DC charger that will charge a typical electric vehicle batter in under an hour in most cases. Some call this a “Fast Charger.” This will cost more than the level 1 or level 2 but might be worth it if there are multiple cars or high volume of driving.
